Hey guys,

Im new to Guild Wars and I was wondering if you would know how to go from RP to PvP.

You don't have to do anything, just go to any one of the many PvP arenas to battle. At least that's how I understand it (haven't taken part in any PvP yet but I've seen arenas).

So the arenas would be in a city or town?

Yes. At least there is an arena in Post-Searing Ascalon.

The actual Hall of Heroes is much further, I think

Once you get to level 20 (and Ascension) you will be able to do anything the PvP only characters can do.

A PvP character is cool if you want your quick fix, but the RP characters have access to the whole world by the end.

There are at least 3 different arenas accessible in the game I think. There is a 4vs4 (Fort Koga), a 6vs6 (beach setting - can't remember the name), and a 6vs6 Capture the Relic (lava setting).

There is also the Tomb of Primeveral Kings where you have 8 people team organized PvP, and Guild vs Guild where you have 8vs8 with a bunch of NPCs on each side.
